This article addresses the limitations of M142 HIMARS operations, such as restricted mobility and dependency on air assets. It offers the HIMARS Afloat concept, mounting systems on a naval vessel, to mitigate these challenges and demonstrate the component interoperability. Recommendations, considerations and requirements cultivated from the initial planning process by 138th FAB and 1-623rd FA BN for HIMARS Afloat are examined.
